Blue Bell Hill vs. FDCC 2nd May |View Blue Bell Hill Innings| |View Ducksmen Innings|

A good first match of the season for the mighty ducksmen. Excellent bowling performances for debutants Mazumder and Aubin despite slippery conditions. A surprisingly fuss-free run chase from all who batted, notably three good partnerships.

BBH 196/8 (Mackrell 20/2, Robinson 20/2, Mazumder 30/2)
FDCC 197/2 (Robinson 52, Smith 51, Williams 44*, Warman 33*)

FDCC won by 8 wickets.

Merton 2nds CC vs. FDCC 23rd May |View Merton Innings| |View Ducksmen Innings|

On a glorious Summer's day, the ducksmen were greeted by a gorgeous batting track. Mackrell and Aubin-Parvu started well. Mackrell extracting some liveliness out of the pitch and taking out one of the openers. Parvu continued his improving form, and nearly took out Merton's top scorer with the ball of the day. However, apart from those early successes Merton progressed quickly until Bennett brought the run rate back under control. A fruitless spell, but an important one nevertheless. Ackerman's near chanceless innings continued until Mazumder accounted for said batter with a fine looping delivery. Nevertheless Merton progressed to a decent score, or so it seemed. Skipper Robinson had other things in mind. Leading from the from, he bludgeoned 67 from 45, ably supported by vice-skipper Fish. After the loss of Robinson, he passed the baton to Warman. Once the 'Warmanator' got his eye in, Merton were the unfortunate recipients of many hefty blows. The runs were knocked off with seven overs and seven wickets to spare; one of the Ducksmen's most assured batting displays of recent times. They were then forced to eat Mirch's curry... and there was much rejoicing.

Merton 214/8 (Lots of 1-fers)
FDCC 215/2 (32.4 Overs) (Robinson 67, Warman 70*)

FDCC won by 8 wickets.

Old Whitgiftians vs. FDCC 6th June |View Ducksmen Innings| |View OW Innings|

A slightly overcast and day with a bit of light rain from time to time greeted the ducksmen at Old Whitgift's tree-lined upper pitch. Having been put in to bat, Robinson and Smith made a circumspect start, but the skip soon accelerated, until being bowled for a swashbuckling 45 in the 12th over. The only other highlight of the Ducksmen's batting was Nelly's first fifty of the year - good to see him in the runs again! A lowish total of 170 should still have been defendable. However, Old Whitgift's opener Earl put the ducksmen attack to the sword - masterful backfoot play, as the Ducksmen bowlers were punished for anything vaguely short of a length. A good spell from VC fish put the brakes on, but the clean hitting of Earl simply made it a no contest. Bugger!

FDCC 170/10 (39.1 Overs) (Neal 53, Robinson 45*)
Old Whitgiftians 215/4 (23.1 Overs) (Mackrell 30/2)

FDCC lost by 6 wickets.

Horton Kirby CC vs. FDCC 15th August |View Horton Kirby Innings| |View Ducksmen Innings|

All refreshed from tour pasties and Doombar we took to the field with 2 fielders stuck in traffic. A superb bowling performance backed up by excellent fielding restricted the opposition to just 100 after 36.1 overs. A quick turnaround meant we were facing the opposition before tea (there's one excuse Chris) and on a still drying wicket (still trying Chris) were 19 for 3 within 6 overs. One of these wickets was the first golden duck of the season as Chris did his bit for junior girls' cricket (there's another one but I'm clutching at straws now Chris.) At this point Bones and Alex settled down to blunt the extremely tidy bowling attack whilst keeping the score ticking over. When Bones fell having steadied the ship Rob came in and joined Alex in managing to make the result look easier than it really was. It was great to see Rich Stewart on the field again, please don't wait so long again Rich. It is also really good to see Rich Williams in one piece. Robin would like to thank Bassett's and JP was able to worship at the shrine that is victoria sandwich. CLick on the photo below for a bigger version.

Chris celebrates!

Horton Kirby 100 (36.1 overs) (Rowlands 3-20, N. McDonald 2-10, Aubin 3-13) FDCC 101/4 (24.3 overs) (Neal 48*, Mackrell 23*)

FDCC won by 6 wickets.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Bardhill CC vs. FDCC 22nd August |View Ducksmen Innings| |View Bardhill Innings|

Another new fixture and as decent a bunch of fellers to play against as we could wish for. We have to report though that we failed to rise to the tea challenge by not polishing it off despite the team of specialists we had out. On the cricket pitch it was a good all-round (especially after tea!) performance. A solid batting performance on a true spinner's track took us to a good total which was defended (despite the tea) by tight bowling and fielding from everyone. All-in-all the general opinion was that Nedley rather dipped out today.

FDCC 213 (Bunker 43, Fish 25,Robinson 44, N. McDonald 30, Mackrell 30, Singh 4-13)
Bardhill CC 112 (Rowland 2-17, Aubin 2-22, Williams 3-4)

FDCC won by 101 runs.
